Our high school code is 241-740

The ACT is the admission test required of colleges and universities in Minnesota and surrounding states.  Register online, prepare for the test, and find resources for planning for college at www.actstudent.org. ; It is recommended that students take the ACT in the spring of their junior year.  Barnum High School is an ACT testing site for the October and April dates, but slots fill up fast, so students are encouraged to register well in advance of the registration deadline.  See Mrs. Litsey if you need more information.

A limited number of fee waivers are available for students who have an economic hardship (qualify for free lunch, are homeless, or have other qualifying circumstances).  See Mrs. Litsey if you believe you may qualify for a fee waiver.

SAT
SAT/PSAT - http://sat.collegeboard.org/register

While all four year colleges in Minnesota and surrounding states prefer the ACT test, the SAT is required by some schools.  More information can be found at the above website.  Please check with your prospective college or the counselor to determine if this is a test that you need for admission.  Most students will not need to take an SAT test if they are taking the ACT.

Students attending a two year community college or technical college will likely take the Accuplacer placement test prior to enrolling for classes.  The link above provides general information about the Accuplacer test as well as study materials for students.

ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery)
Students in their Junior year will be taking this test.  The ASVAB Career Exploration Program can help young adults identify and explore potentially satisfying occupations and develop effective strategies to realize career goals.  The scores can also be used for enlistment for two years after taking the test.
