Tell Your Story
Itching for a good story? We’re hoping the community is up to the challenge of telling their story. you can choose from one of two themes:  
“An Education” or “The Family Car”. 
Submit your story to . If chosen, We have a panel of lofty literaries to help fine tune your 5-7 minute true and personal story, you don’t need to have it memorized but you will use a microphone and share it with the audience in our school commons.  (the moth Radio hour has great tips for storytelling on their website)

Moose Lake School Commons
February 15th 6:30-7:30 p.m.  Snacks provided, geared towards audiences 16+ watch the school’s website for more info.  Not an open mic night-Participants will be pre-chosen, rehearsed & ready to have fun!
Cutting Board Class
Always wanted to make your very own cutting board? High school shop teacher, Mr. Grant Kaihoi, will provide instruction culminating in a 1" by 9" by 14" hardwood cutting board for each participant. You’ll use our miter saw, joiner, planer, table saw and other assorted tools. Fundamentals such as creating square& true lumber from a rough board & accurate measuring & marking will be emphasized. Participants must be at least 16yrs. of age, class size is limited to 6. Register Today!!!

Three Legged Stool
Want to build your very own hand crafted seat?  Now is your chance with this lathe based project!  Turn 4 spindle legs on the lathe and make a stool you can be proud of!  High school shop teacher, Mr. Kaihoi, will guide you through the basics of spindle turning on the lathe, and you'll create wedged mortise and tenon joints.  Stools will be 18" tall and 16" in diameter.  It will function as an occasional seat, low end table, or plant stand.     6 student limit, ages 16 and up.  

Three 2 hour large group instructional sessions on January 6th, 13th and 20th with corresponding work days January 7th, 9th, 14th, 16th, 21st, and 23rd.  Students will need to attend every instructional  session and 1 work day per week.  This is to allow access to limited equipment in the shop and save participants’ time.  We will determine who is coming to which work days during the first instructional session, so bring your calendar!

Wooden Box
Fishing folks will want to fill it with tackle, quilters their needle and thread! Whatever your hobby, building this box will be a great place to stash your prized possessions. Spend 3 evenings at the MLHS shop with instructor, Grant Kaihoi, learning to cut precise miters on the table saw and execute half-lap joints with precision.

Zumba with Jan Pufall
Start the New Year off with great exercise for your mind, body, and heart! Zumba is a fun way to begin each week. We will be moving to Latin music as well as familiar and fun tunes. Movement combinations are repeated three times per song. This repetition really helps you enjoy and have fun with the routines. We also progress slowly through any new moves. NO PRIOR ZUMBA IS NECESSARY.  A make-up/free class is built in to each session, to help if you have to miss a class or we have a snow day! Bring: water bottle, gym shoes, exercise band  OR weights -5lbs or less

Dance For Fitness & Fun
This 7-week session is open to both beginning and intermediate level students. It focuses on applying the movements associated with Belly Dance and various foreign cultures to exercise. The class will include stretching, review, introduction to advanced movements, a short aerobic routine and learning a choreographed dance. Pre-registration with Community Education is required to attend class.

Body Blast Workout-With The Jumpin Jacs
New this year! Body Blast is a class guaranteed to make you sweat. This class combines strength, HIIT (high-intensity interval training) and cardio exercises. It will be a group instructed class but you'll be able to move at your own level and pace. We’ll run, jump and lift! This 8 week class is suitable for beginners and advanced participants. You’ll be amazed at how quickly your ability and confidence increase. This class promises to challenge you and as always--be fun! Class is open to all genders 16+ and limited to 12 people.

Capturing Your Life Stories Through Guided Autobiography
Capture the stories of your life a couple pages at a time! No writing experience needed! In this eight-session Guided Autobiography (GAB) class, you and a small group of classmates will use a theme-based approach to recall some of the stories of your life. You’ll reflect on your experiences related to that week’s theme and write a story from which you will select about two pages to share with the group the following week. This exchange of stories within the safe, non-judgmental, confidential environment of the class helps put each person’s stories into a broader context, leading to new perspectives and insights into one’s own life and the lives of others. Class size is limited to 7, Registration Deadline is February 20th.

Instructor Esther Gieschen, certified Guided Autobiography Instructor, will facilitate the class. She has been involved in the field of reminiscence, life review and life story work for many years. 

Babysitting Safety Course (CABS)
The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program from the American Safety and Health Institute provides everything you need to know for safe and successful babysitting. The students will receive their certification card and instructions to access a digital copy of the Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) Student book at the end of class. From getting started with your business to collaborating with parents and children to key safety, caregiving, and first aid tips, CABS will help set you up for babysitting success. Students must be present for the entire class and complete achievement of the core learning objectives to receive certification valid for two years. Students attend this class independently and should come prepared with a notebook and pen.
For ages 11+**Registration Deadline is January 30th.

Home Alone Class
Is your child ready for the independence of being home alone? Parents need to be sure their children have the skills and maturity to handle the responsibility safely. Whether for an hour after school or several hours a day during the summer, being trusted to be home alone can be a positive experience for a mature and well-prepared child. This class for children will address several topics relating to being “Home Alone,” including age guidelines, safe habits, house rules, after-school routines, phone calls and door knocks, dog emergencies, personal safety, handling the unexpected, gun safety, severe weather, fire safety, intruders, and first aid tips. Students attend this class independently and parents are encouraged to review the information and discuss it with their child/children after class.
For ages 2nd grade & up.

Youth Driver's Education Classroom & Behind The Wheel

Community Education offers teen driver’s education in cooperation with Tim and Catrina Roth of Mille Lacs Driving Instruction (MLDI). The goal of MLDI is not only to have students pass their driving test, but to help them become safe drivers. All instructors are licensed by the MN Dept. of Public Safety. Classroom instruction prepares the student to take the MN permit test. Visit their website for further information. Students may sign up for any session.

Classes are open to all students age 14 & older. After finishing the 30 hours of classroom and passing the permit test, students can schedule their Behind-the-Wheel instruction.

Our doors are open once again and the community may use our hallways & our new trails in the school forest!! School building Available hours are Mondays-Fridays 6:00 a.m.-7:45 a.m. & 3:45 p.m.-8:00 p.m. *Please note that some hallways will not be available on home game nights as they will be locked. Trail hours are before & after school, weekends & holidays. Keep dogs on leash!!
